ARTHUR'S

In 1925, when Banburys first began. Arthur, his wife Gwendoline and baby son Peter moved into a flat on the second and third floor of the very building where our Barnstaple department store stands today. They managed the business known then as 'Banburys drapers and furnishers'. For years it was customary for Banburys' many farming customers to call in during the annual Barnstaple stock fair, and pay off their accounts. In recognition of their loyal custom, Arthur would provide free luncheon in his dining room located on the site of this restaurant. Regrettably, we are unable to offer you a free luncheon in recognition of your custom, but we hope you enjoy your visit to Arthur's.

EASTMOND'S

There has been a General Drapers on Gold Street Tiverton, since 1898, when Eastmond and Son Ltd was incorporated. Not wanting to break tradition, Mr Francis Eastmond approached the Banbury family in 1989 offering the freehold to the property on the provision that we name our café, The Eastmond's Café. Of course we willingly accepted. Today Eastmond's Café is as popular as ever, and is a hub for the local community in the centre of Tiverton.

Both our coffee shops source as much produce as we can locally, whether it's free range high welfare eggs or freshly baked bread/cakes from our local baker, just a few doors up the road. It's important to us that we source fresh local produce. We serve hot food such as paninis, toasties, jacket potatoes and more, made to order, all with gluten free, vegetarian and vegan options available.
